wtf is rocky-desktop?

Rocky Desktop is a 3D desktop companion app modeled on Rocky, a character from the novel and film Project Hail Mary. It sits on your screen and reacts in real time to what is happening in your Claude Code or Codex coding sessions, using their hook systems to know when you have sent a prompt, when the AI is thinking, when tools are actively running, and when a task finishes or fails. The character shows its state through small animated icons and matching movements. It perks up when you send a prompt, shows a busy meter while tools are running, celebrates with a hop when a task completes, and looks visibly worried if something goes wrong. When a session asks for permission to run a tool, an allow or deny bubble appears right above the character on screen, so a person can approve or reject it without switching over to the terminal window. If it is ignored for a couple of minutes, the request falls back to the normal terminal prompt. When no coding sessions are active, the character reflects general activity on the computer, such as watching video, doing design work, or browsing, based entirely on local detection with nothing sent over the network. It also has a sleep animation after a period of inactivity, and wakes back up when the user returns. Speech comes in three modes: musical sounds by default, an optional built in translated voice that runs fully offline using a small neural voice model, or a silent, text only mode.
