VendorBridge is a web app that helps small and medium-sized businesses manage their purchasing process from start to finish. Instead of juggling emails and spreadsheets, a team can use this tool to build Requests for Quotation (RFQs), collect bids from suppliers, issue purchase orders, and track invoices all in one place. It comes pre-loaded with sample data so you can explore how it works right away. The app organizes people into four specific roles, each with their own level of access. An Admin manages users and views analytics. A Manager approves or rejects quotes and marks invoices as paid. A Procurement Officer creates the actual requests and purchase orders. A Vendor logs in to see what they've been invited to bid on and submits their pricing. If someone tries to do something outside their role, the app stops them and clearly explains who is allowed to perform that action. This project was built for a hackathon, so it's designed to demonstrate a complete, working procurement workflow rather than serve as a production tool. It includes thoughtful touches like the ability to export documents as PDFs, attach files to requests, and rate vendors after working with them. Password resets happen directly in the app, and uploaded files are given scrambled names for security. Under the hood, the app uses a simple, single-file database that makes it easy to set up and run locally. It intentionally skips features that a real business might eventually need, like sending emails, processing payments, or supporting multiple companies in one installation. These omissions are deliberate, keeping the project focused on demonstrating the core procurement workflow clearly and simply.
